   I had a good life in Japan. I was an English teacher in a small city Matsuyama for 8 years. However, something inside of me didn't feel satisfied. I didn't perfectly fit into the philosophy of "think inside of the box" and could not escape my inner voice telling me NY is where I should be. So at age 31, I made the decision to go to NY. I gave up my career in Japan because I honestly believed I would find a better career path in NY (you can imagine the yelling my parents did!). I got on that plane for NY and did not look back.

   It's been 7 years since I came to NY in 2008. It has taken this long to finally understand why it had to be NY all along. NY is the competitive place where people from all over the world come to make their dreams come true. Everyday you have to compete with them. But the beauty of NY is that it can reward those who never give up and don't back down from the challenge. NY loves a winner and someone who got their the hard way. NY can reward that type of person in ways most places cannot.

   I did it. I know you can.
